Please join UofL's Anne Braden Institute and the Liberal Studies Visiting Scholar Program for a public lecture by historian Cotten Seiler on “Race, Infrastructure, and the Future.”
Dr. Seiler is a Professor of American Studies at Dickinson College and will be speaking about his new book "White Care: The Impact of Race on American Infrastructure,” out this year from the University of Chicago press. Focusing on two pivotal periods—the New Deal of the 1930s and the era of school desegregation following Brown v. Board of Education—Seiler will explore how infrastructure has both reflected and reinforced racial inequality, while offering important insights for imagining a more equitable future.
