On Campus

The Louisville Conference on Literature and Culture takes place on the University of Louisville’s Belknap Campus – a walkable, tree-lined campus in Louisville’s Old Louisville neighborhood, one of the largest collections of Victorian-era architecture in the United States.

Shuttle service between conference venues, partnered hotels and key campus locations has been provided at past conferences.

Visiting Louisville

Louisville is more than a conference destination — it’s a city worth exploring. Whether you’re joining us in person for the first time or returning for another year, we hope you’ll take time to experience what makes Louisville a place people keep coming back to.

Getting to Louisville

Louisville is centrally located and easily accessible:

  • Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) is approximately 15 minutes from the University of Louisville campus, with direct flights from most major U.S. hubs.
  • By car, Louisville is within a day’s drive of two-thirds of the U.S. population, located at the intersection of I-64, I-65, and I-71.
  • Amtrak provides service to Louisville via the Cardinal line.

Accommodations

LCLC54 has partnered with the historic Brown Hotel in downtown Louisville to offer conference attendees a discounted group rate. Opened in 1923 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Brown is one of Louisville’s best-known landmarks, and the birthplace of the city’s signature dish, the Hot Brown.

Staying at the Brown puts you in the heart of downtown, close to restaurants, museums, the Louisville theater district, and a short drive from the University of Louisville’s Belknap Campus.

Rooms in the conference block are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
