UofL CME Seminar Focuses on Insurance Coverage and Patient Advocacy (Virtual Grand Rounds)

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is hosting a accredited Continuing Medical Education (CME) live activity aimed at psychiatric physicians, residents, medical students, and healthcare professionals. The session equips clinicians with practical strategies to advocate for patient care and navigate insurance coverage hurdles.

Key Learning Objectives:

Letters of Medical Necessity: Understanding essential components—including clinician competence, clinical evaluations, and risk assessments—and knowing when to use them.

Peer-to-Peer Reviews: Applying structured agendas and talking points during insurer discussions to align on appropriate coverage for patient treatment plans.

Patient Access & Advocacy: Utilizing tools such as formal insurance complaints, obtaining complete insurance files, and leveraging constituent services to support self-advocacy.

CME & Event Details:

Credit: Designated for up to 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
