UofL's School of Medicine unexpectedly lost a 22-year veteran staff member on September 14, 2026. Carmel Mackin had worked in the Dean’s office for many decades and we honor her commitment to UofL and to health.

All are invited to gather for a memorial tree planting and plaque ceremony in Carmel's honor.

The tree planting will take place from 1:30-1:45pm, followed by a reception up on the second floor of the Abell Administration Center for those that want to share fond memories of Carmel.

This is a  Louisville Tree Week and UofL Sustainability Week event!
