The Hite Institute of Art + Design is excited to announce "Ink Networks" an exhibition of printmakers from the mid-west.

Presented in conjunction with a screening of the documentary, “Portfolios: Lloyd Menard”, Ink Networks focuses on the work and legacy of Lloyd Menard, a prolific printermaker who founded the University of South Dakota-Vermillion Printmaking Department in 1972 and later Frogman’s Print Workshop in 1979, one of the United States most well-known printmaking workshops. 

In Ink Networks, several works by Menard are on view alongside work by Mauricio Lasansky, and Warrington Colescott, artists who played a key role in re-establishing printmaking as a vital artistic practice in the Midwest. These are paired with works by Menard’s contemporaries and the younger generations of artists he has inspired and taught, resulting in an exhibition that celebrates the significant role printmaking has played in the midwest since 1945, and the artists who continue to shape its trajectory.
