Student-Parent Association

The Student-Parent Association was created by a University of Louisville student who saw a need not being filled. Student-Parents are an important part of universities and deserve a support group that wants them and their families to succeed. The group began in 2011. Student-Parents may view college from different perspectives than “traditional” students. They may face challenges and take on different roles as moms, dads, single or married parents. They do all of this while also being students. Our campus support group is important in helping these students meet the challenges they face.
The primary purpose(s) of the organization: promote the academic success of the UofL, JCTC and other metroversity Student-Parents; offer support services, resources, friendship and community; help Student-Parents learn to balance their personal, social, academic and professional lives; offer information regarding campus and community resources that are beneficial to students, such as childcare, housing, academic scholarships, etc.; provide networking opportunities. Membership to the Student-Parent Association is always free and open to all students. Our events are family friendly. Annual events include the Student-Parent Visibility Day, Clothing Exchange Donation Project and Angel Tree Initiative. Other smaller events are created to cater to the specific needs expressed by the Student-Parents! We hold meetings and events each month that seek the best interest of our members.
