National Council of Negro Women

The National Council of Negro Women, Inc. (NCNW) is a nonprofit membership organization. NCNW was founded in 1935 by Mary McLeoud Bethune who is a distinguished educator, government consultant, and civil rights leader. The mission of the organization is to advocate, lead, and develop for women of color's descent as they support their families and communities. The NCNW addresses issues of human rights through public education, advocacy, and community service. The NCNW reaches about 4 million women through 39 national affiliate organizations, as well along with 300 youth, collegiate , and community sections.
