DESCRIPTION:Dr. Konstantinos D. Vogiatzis from the University of Tennessee 
 Knoxville will present a chemistry-related seminar as part of the Chemistr
 y Department’s ongoing Brown & Williamson Seminar Series.\n\nKonstantino
 s Vogiatzis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at th
 e University of Tennessee. Dr. Vogiatzis completed his bachelor’s degree
  in chemistry at the University of Athens, Greece. He obtained his MSc in 
 Applied Molecular Spectroscopy from the University of Crete, Greece, and h
 e received his Ph.D. from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, 
 under the supervision of Prof. Wim Klopper. After an eight-month post-doct
 oral appointment at the Institute of Nanotechnology at the Karlsruhe Insti
 tute of Technology, he moved at the University of Minnesota, where he perf
 ormed post-doctoral research in the group of Prof. Laura Gagliardi. In 201
 6, Dr. Vogiatzis joined the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, as an Assi
 stant Professor of theoretical and computational chemistry and in 2021 he 
 was early tenured and promoted to Associate Professor. His research group 
 is currently developing new computational methods based on electronic stru
 cture theory and machine learning for the theoretical examination of react
 ivity, catalysis and separation processes. Dr. Vogiatzis is the recipient 
 of the ACS OpenEye Outstanding Junior Faculty Award (2021), the US Nationa
 l Science Foundation CAREER award (2022), the Bodossaki Distinguished Youn
 g Scientist Award in Sciences (2023), and the Pariser Poster Faculty Award
  of the American Conference on Theoretical Chemistry (ACTC, 2024).
