DESCRIPTION:Dr. John Greendan from McMaster University will present a chemi
stry-related seminar as part of the Chemistry Department’s ongoing Brown
& Williamson Seminar Series.\n\nDr. Greedan has made tremendous contribut
ions to the research on structure-property relationships in perovskites an
d pyrochlores. In particular, his body of work on pyrochlores has had an i
mmense impact on the field, making him one of the most influential researc
hers in this area. He has used neutron diffraction elegantly for both crys
tal structure and magnetic structure determination. His papers “Magnetic
Pyrochlore Oxides” (Rev. Modern Phys. 2010, 82, 53) and “Geometricall
 y frustrated magnetic materials” (J. Mater. Chem. 2001, 11, 37) are high
ly revered in the field and have been cited thousands of times.
