 uring locals making a difference in sustainability and a free vegetarian l
 unch! \n\nWe kick off the spring series with "Building a Bikeable Louisvi
 lle: LouDOT’s work growing and supporting cycling across Jefferson Count
 y," This presentation highlights how Bike Louisville, a program within Lou
 isville Metro Department of Transportation, is working to make cycling a m
 ainstream and viable mode of transportation by fostering partnerships with
  local nonprofits, advocacy groups, community riders, and city leaders.\n\
 nAttendees will learn how collaborative engagement, public outreach, and t
 he development of low-stress bicycle facilities are helping create a safer
 , more connected network that encourages people of all ages and abilities 
 to ride. The session will also explore the common challenges that cities l
 ike Louisville face when expanding bicycle infrastructure, including fundi
 ng, public perception, maintenance, and interagency coordination, while sh
 aring lessons learned that can help advocates advance their own bike-frien
 dly initiatives.\n\nOur speaker will be Chris Butz, the Program Manager fo
 r Bike Louisville at Louisville Metro Department of Transportation, a role
  he has held since 2023. A Louisville native and daily bike commuter, Chri
 s is passionate about making bicycling a safe, practical, and accessible t
 ransportation option for people of all ages and abilities.\n\nChris earned
  his Master of Urban Planning from the University of Louisville in 2020 an
 d began his career in transportation planning with the Transit Authority o
 f River City (TARC) before joining Metro. He believes that streets should 
 be designed with vulnerable road users at the forefront, and he works to a
 dvance policies, partnerships, and infrastructure that support a more conn
 ected and bikeable Louisville. When he's not advocating for better streets
 , Chris enjoys spending weekends with his wife and their toddler exploring
  the Louisville Zoo and Metro Parks.\n\nThe Sustainability Council’s Ec
 oReps program is designed to move students, faculty & staff beyond talk t
 o action for a more sustainable UofL! We provide basic training & resource
 s, service opportunities, and leadership positions as a point-person & pee
