DESCRIPTION:Pérez Rodríguez is a sharp and humorous Dominican comedy that
follows a modest government employee whose carefully ordered life begins
to unravel through a series of unexpected events. Combining satire with so
cial observation, the film examines bureaucracy, class aspirations, family
dynamics, and the contradictions of contemporary Puerto Rican society.\n\
n\nThe Department of Classical and Modern Languages and the Latin American
and Latino Studies Program, College of Arts and Sciences at the Universit
y of Louisville, proudly announce the 33rd edition of the “Reel” Latin
America(n) Film Festival, a celebration that has brought the voices of Sp
anish and Latin American cinema to our community for more than three decad
es.\n\n\n\nThe festival’s title, “Reel,” plays on both the material
history of film reels and the presentation of real stories—authentic nar
ratives that reveal the resilience, struggles, and aspirations of communit
ies across Latin America and Spain. The 33rd edition brings five new featu
res spanning Brazil, Spain, the United States, the Dominican Republic, and
Venezuela, continuing the festival’s commitment to exploring shared cul
tural questions across the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking world.
