DESCRIPTION:The Hite Institute of Art + Design is excited to invite you to 
 an artist talk with artist and designer David Helm. Join us on Saturday Se
 pt. 12, at 3 p.m. for a lecture and discussion with David Helm. This event
  is free and open to the public. \n\nHelm's solo exhibition Labyrinths is
  on view at the Cressman Center for Visual Arts from September 11-October 
 31, 2026. \n\nIn Labyrinths, a series of photographs document temporary l
 arge-scale drawings of the Chartres labyrinth, drawn on beaches between hi
 gh and low tides using simple handmade tools.  Begun during a difficult p
 eriod in the artists life, the practice has become an ongoing encounter wi
 th care and loss.\n\nThis visit was made possible with  \nthe support of 
 the Liberal Studies Visiting Scholars Project\n\nDavid Helm is a fifth-gen
 eration Louisvillian, a graduate of the Hite Art Institute at the Universi
 ty of Louisville, and director of Studio Jelly in Portland, Oregon.\n\n \
