What is Green Dot?

Green Dot is a comprehensive violence prevention strategy with a focus on preventing power based personal violence; sexual violence, dating violence and stalking. The strategy incorporates a public health approach to violence prevention, by working across the socio-ecological model. Green Dot strives to change the norms on campus to reflect a thriving community that does not tolerate violence through engaging the greater community in the fundamental idea that we all have a role to play in creating safe communities. A key component of creating this community is through campus wide campaigns, overview speeches, mobilization events, and targeted bystander intervention trainings.

During the faculty and staff Green Dot training you will learn the following:

  • The Green Dot strategy and how it will impact our campus culture.
  • How to recognize signs of power-based personal violence.
  • How to become an active bystander in different scenarios and realistic ways to intervene.
  • How to support students in creating a violence free culture on campus and how to proactively engage with the Green Dot message.

We're all in this together!

Sexual violence, dating violence and stalking are not individual problems; this violence is a public health issue, and we all have a role to play. Green Dot gives faculty, staff, and students shared language and a shared understanding of the small choices we can each make every day to change our culture. “No one has to do everything, but everyone has to do something”.
