##Vietnam #veteransday
View map Free Event

In honor of Veterans Day, the Department of History cordially invites you to visit a display of student research posters on the experiences of Vietnam War Veterans in the first floor Gottschalk Hall Lounge/Map Room from 12-3 on Monday, November 11.  Light refreshments (cookies and iced tea) will be served.

The posters will remain up as long as we are able, if you are unable to make it to the designated event.

As part of a partnership with the Kentucky Opera presentation of Glory Denied, an opera about America's longest held prisoner of war, the students in Professor Tracy K'Meyer's HIST 212: Introduction to United States History created posters representing the experiences of Vietnam War Veterans. These posters draw from oral history interviews with soldiers about both the war and their lives after coming home, as well as pictures from the era. The themes covered include the camaraderie that helps soldiers survive, their day-to-day duties, their interactions with the Vietnamese people, their reflections on the meaning of the war, and their experiences as Veterans at home.
