Type Hike is a collaborative non-profit design project that celebrates and supports the outdoors though typography. Started as a means to bring designers together for a greater good, Type Hike celebrated the National Parks Centennial through typographic posters submitted by 60 designers representing each of the 59 parks in the National Park System plus the centennial itself. Participating designers included UofL Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, Meena Khalili, as well as David Carson, Jessica Hische, Jay Fletcher, Charles&Thorn, Brian Steely, Joshua Noom, and Lauren Dickens.
Type Hike has been on view at the Type Directors Club in New York as well as the Chicago Design Museum and has recently been added to the permanent collection of the Library of Congress. Since its inception, the project has expanded to include two additional series - Shores, which is also on view at the Schneider Hall Galleries, and Alphabeasts (forthcoming).
Gallery hours: Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM
