Join us for an eye-opening talk by renowned historian Dr. Burt Folsom as he unpacks The Myth of the Robber Barons. Discover how some of the most iconic entrepreneurs of American history, often criticized as exploitative tycoons, actually fueled innovation, economic growth, and prosperity. Drawing from his extensive research, Dr. Folsom will challenge popular misconceptions and reveal the enduring lessons these industrialists offer for today’s free market and entrepreneurial spirit. Don’t miss this chance to explore the truth behind the myths and gain a deeper understanding of America’s proud economic heritage.

Dr. Folsom is a native of Lincoln, Nebraska, and has been a college professor at many places, including Hillsdale College in Michigan, where he still serves as a distinguished fellow. He received his BA from Indiana University and his PhD in history from the University of Pittsburgh.

A distinguished economic historian, Dr. Folsom appears regularly on Fox News and is the author of ten books, including The Myth of the Robber Barons, which is published by Young America’s Foundation and will soon be in its ninth edition; Uncle Sam Can’t Count; and FDR Goes to War.

This event is part of the Center for Free Enterprise Menard Family Lecture Series, the Center's Truist Speaker Series, and is co-sponsored and presented with Young America's Foundation.
