Join us for a panel discussion by students who participated in four community-engaged, public history projects in the UofL History Department in 2023. Each presentation will be followed by time for discussion. Light refreshments will be available!

Student panelists will present the work of classes that...

1. Centered the experiences of enslaved people who labored at Oxmoor Farm with Dr. Felicia Jamison.

2. Created an exhibit with Dr. Glenn Crothers and the staff of the Frazier History Museum on Eliza Tevis, an emancipated enslaved person who created a community around the current Newburg neighborhood.

3. Collaborated with the members of the Chickasaw Book Project Committee to collect and interpret oral histories about their neighborhood in the west end under the direction of Dr. Tracy K’Meyer.

4. Produced digital projects and movies based on their own research on local, national and international Black History subjects facilitated by Dr. Rebecca Devlin.
