The University of Louisville’s McConnell Center will host its annual Strategic Broadening Seminar for U.S. Army soldiers and civilians Aug. 29 through Sept. 26.

The month-long residential leadership program is designed by the McConnell Center, the Pentagon and the US Army Human Resources Command to help meet the calls from Army leadership to create broader, educated and more flexible Army leaders to face new and dynamic challenges in the 21st century.

Participants will further their leadership skills, strategic thinking and knowledge of the American constitutional order and U.S. relations with Russia and the Asia Pacific region.

Since its founding in 1991, the McConnell Center has grown a national reputation for leadership education and has hosted such figures as U.S. President George W. Bush, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, CIA Director David Petraeus, Secretaries of State ranging from Colin Powell to Hillary Clinton, Secretaries of Defense including Leon Panetta, and numerous other national figures and award-winning scholars.
