Kendra Erk, Associate Professor Mechanical Engineering, Purdue University will present the online seminar "Superabsorbent Polymer Hydrogels in Highly Alkaline Environments." Polymer hydrogels have many industrial uses, from drug-delivery and self-healing materials to the superabsorbent particles used in baby diapers.  Prof. Erk will present her findings on how hydrogels significantly improve the formation, curing and material properties of hard matter, including concrete. This fourth seminar of the UofL Soft Matter Initiative Workshop is sponsored and organized by the ElectroOptics Research Institute and Nanotechnology Center. Here are the links to the MS Teams meeting and the full abstract and bio.
