Seminar on Soft Materials: Micro-Swimmers

Paulo Arratia, Professor of Mechanical Engineering and of Chemical & Biological Engineering, University of Pennsylvania will present the online seminar “Micro-Swimmers: Life in Complex Fluids” 1 PM, February 14, 2023.  The talk describes the mechanics of swimming microbes, both individual and swarms of micro-organisms. There are unusual and unexpected changes in the swimming motions when the organisms are in water and when even small amounts of biologically-relevant macromolecules are added.
