SEEN / UNSEEN: Perspectives on Perception from UofL Photographic Archives
On View: September 28 - November 3
Reception: October 5th 5-8pm
The Hite Art Institute and the UofL Photographic Archives present “SEEN / UNSEEN: Perspectives on Perception” in celebration of the 2017 Louisville Photo Biennial. The exhibitions feature photographs selected from the University of Louisville Photographic Archives, many of which have never before been publically displayed, and include works by Cal Kowal, Charles Rumpf, Ryan Boatwright, and Eva Rubenstein.
“SEEN / UNSEEN” are presented as two distinct exhibitions in conversation with one another on the differences between seeing and looking. “Seen” contemplates the act of mindful observation, while “Unseen” focuses on perception as the point at which the physical sense of sight intersects with psychological programming to make meaning.
