DESCRIPTION:Corey DeAngelis is one of the nation's top authorities on schoo
 l choice. In his extensive work to promote educational freedom\, Corey has 
 heard all the objections from opponents of school choice. He joins us to de
 bunk the most common misconceptions and set the record straight on why his 
 research confirms communities should embrace school choice for their famili
 es\, not fight it.\n\nCorey is the national director of research at the Ame
 rican Federation for Children\, the executive director at Educational Freed
 om Institute\, an  adjunct scholar at the Cato Institute\, and a senior fel
 low at Reason Foundation. He was named on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for h
 is work on education policy and received the Buckley Award from America's F
 uture in 2020. \n\nCorey's research primarily  focuses on the effects of sc
 hool choice programs on nonacademic outcomes such as criminal activity\, ch
 aracter skills\, mental health\, and political participation. He has author
 ed or coauthored more than 40 journal articles\, book chapters\, and report
 s on education policy. He is the coeditor of School Choice Myths: Setting t
 he Record Straight on Education Freedom. \n\nHis research has been publishe
 d in peer-reviewed academic journals\, including Social Science Quarterly\,
  School Effectiveness and School Improvement\, Educational Review\, Educati
 onal Research and Evaluation\, and Peabody Journal of Education. His work h
 as also been published in the Wall Street Journal\, USA Today\, New York Po
 st\, and National Review.\n\nCorey received his PhD in education policy fro
 m the University of Arkansas. He holds a BBA and an MA in economics from th
 e University of Texas at San Antonio. \n\nThis event is presented by the Ce
