About this Event
2011 S. Brook Street , Louisville, Kentucky 40208
https://louisville.campuslabs.com/engage/event/4846737HIV affects all races, genders, sexual orientations, socio-economic statuses and any other demographic you can imagine. However, as of June 30th, 2018; 31% of Kentuckians diagnosed with HIV were between the ages of 20-29 years old. This statistic is why UofL Health Promotion, Volunteers of America Mid-States and the Louisville metro department of health are partnering to host a testing competition to motivate the UofL college community to know their status and protect themselves with resources like condoms, and medications like PrEP.
We will be holding a contest to see which fraternity and sorority can get the most people tested for HIV in the name of their organization. The top sorority and top fraternity from each council will have a donation made in their name to the Kentucky Aids Alliance, an organization that links those affected by HIV/AIDS to testing, support and treatment.
Participants in this event do not have to belong to the organization that they are being tested under. For example, any person can get tested under the name "Chi Omega". Participants also can be Faculty, staff or students. We will not turn anyone away who would like to be tested. The test is a finger prick and will take about 10-15 minutes to get results. VOA-Mid states and Metro dept of health will have trained staff and counselors available to talk to anyone privately and confidentially about their results.
Outside of testing, there will be field game activities sponsored by ELSB on the west lawn and tabling by multiple organizations on the west plaza.
