Whether you’re riding in an elevator with members of a job search committee or giving a short talk walking around campus, you’ll need to be prepared to talk about your areas of expertise. In this interactive session, participants will learn how to share their knowledge and experience in 2 to 5 minutes. Following the informative session, graduate students will have an opportunity to mix and mingle, to both get to know other graduate students and to practice their elevator talks with students inside and outside their fields. This workshop is particularly beneficial for students who will be defending a thesis or dissertation, those going on the job market soon, or those interested in competing in the 3MT competition.

Learning Outcomes:

Graduate students who attend this session will: 1. identify key elements of an elevator pitch generally, 2. Outline the main points of their own elevator pitch, 3. Practice giving an elevator ptich to other graduate students
