Graduate students are at a particular risk for experiencing imposter syndrome. Commonly experienced as the feeling you don’t belong, imposter syndrome can cause stress, anxiety, lack of self-confidence, shame, and depression. Perhaps even more importantly, it can impact graduate student academic, professional, and personal development.
