What is it like to network in an environment where you only have a few minutes to get to know your colleague, determine if you’d like to work with them, identify shared interests, or just make a good impression? It’s a little like speed dating – where you have just six minutes with another person before you’re forced to rotate to talk to someone new. In this Speed Networking session, graduate students will learn the basics of how to effectively speed network, get to know other graduate students, and identify how you then build a network from a brief encounter.
Learning Outcomes. As a result of this session, participants will be able to:
1. List key elements of effective networking
2. Network effectively with other graduate students
3. Describe next steps in building an effective network
