About the Workshop:

Need help finding credible, scholarly articles on your research topic but not sure where to start? This workshop will equip you with the basics of the research process, providing you with tools and tips for effective literature searches. By the end of this session, you should be familiar with search tools and tipsfor selecting appropriate databases, developing comprehensive literature searches, evaluating resources and information, and requesting additional support when needed. Leave this workshop feeling empowered, inspired, and ready to dive into the literature. 

Presenters: Lidiya Grote & Courtney Shareef

As the Strategic Research Initiatives Librarian, Courtney Shareef supports Ekstrom Library's Scholar Services, a new suite of signature services that develop collaborative and embedded relationships with campus researchers across disciplines. In addition, she serves as the librarian liaison for the UofL's College of Education and Human Development, providing faculty and students with research support and information literacy instruction. 

Lidiya Grote is a Social Sciences Librarian and the Affordable Learning and Open Educational Resources (OER) Coordinator at the University of Louisville Libraries. She holds a Master of Science in Information from the University of Michigan School of Information and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Political Science from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania.   

In her current role, Lidiya provides in-depth research assistance and information literacy instruction to students, faculty, and staff in the Social Science disciplines. She also leads textbook affordability advocacy on campus. Her research projects focus on student success, empowerment, and advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom, library programming, and within the profession.
