Pipeline by Dominique Morisseau is a play about Nya, a public school teacher in the inner city, and her son Omari, who attends a private boarding school. After a physical altercation at the school, Nya must confront her son's rage and the complexities of systemic racism, educational inequality, and the "school-to-prison pipeline" to help him navigate his future. The play uses Gwendolyn Brooks's poem "We Real Cool" to explore themes of hopelessness and the potential for violence among marginalized youth, while also humanizing young Black men beyond their anger and actions.
