Attend a screening of "Haze: A Feature Documentary."

On Sept. 17, 2004, Lynn Gordon “Gordie” Bailey, Jr. was found dead at the Chi Psi Fraternity house at the University of Colorado, Boulder. On the evening of September 16, Gordie and 26 other pledges were taken, blindfolded into the forest where they were encouraged to drink four handles of whiskey and six bottles of wine. When the group returned to the Fraternity house, Gordie was visibly intoxicated and was placed on a couch to sleep it off. Gordie was left for 10 hours before he was found dead the next morning. No one called for help.

The documentary HAZE tells Gordie’s story within the greater context of alcohol abuse and hazing on campus in order to spark in-depth conversations about the role of alcohol and “traditions” to initiate members as well as motivate audience members to intervene in an alcohol emergency.

The documentary will be followed by a panel discussion featuring these individuals:

Dr. Jones is the Professor and Chair of the University of Louisville’s Department of Pan-African Studies. As the author of Black Haze: Violence, Sacrifice and Man- hood in Black Greek-Letter Fraternities, Dr. Jones is a pivotal leader in raising awareness of hazing in NPHC organizations.

A. Jordan Fischette
