About this Event
In this session we will discover some of the truths about the role of physicians and medical researchers in the invention and institutionalization of race and scientific racism in the United States. Specifically, the presenter will discuss the origins of racialized “Blackness,” how and why the “Black Body” became central to the history of medicine and science in the US, and summarize how the continued misuse of race and racial groups in medicine perpetuate health disparities and social inequity.
