Please join us for guest speakers Dr. Yuning Lei, Dr. James Mead, and Dr. Liang Ma from the division of microrobotics and control engineering at the University of Oldenburg as they discuss their recent research work. The focus will be on micro and nanoscale manipulation techniques within the scanning electron microscope and the optical microscope environment. The techniques are facilitated by integrating nanopositioning stages and force sensors, along with material deposition and etching capabilities provided by a focused ion beam and a gas injection system. Highlighted techniques will include the fabrication of submicron liquid metal droplet probes via electromigration, the robotized manipulation of droplets for nano-characterization of sample surfaces through contact angle measurements in vacuum, and the adhesion force characterization of one-dimensional materials.
