Guest Artists: Xuan Du, violin & Sayá Sangidorj, piano

Xuan Du (Concertmaster of Symphony Orchestra of National Opera House of China. ) was born into a musician's family in China, studied violin from the age of ten, two years later he gave his first public performance and after six years of study he was a finalist in the National violin competition in Shanghai.

In 1998 his string quartet was invited to Portugal by the ‘Fundacao Oriente’ and soon after he won the assistant concertmaster position in the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa and teaching at the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra. In the same year he joined the Moscow Piano Quartet which came from Moscow residences in the Culture Centre of Cascais and he remained with them for five years whilst continuing his part-time study with Prof Yfrah Neaman from the Guildhall School of Music.In 2006, Xuan Du was appointed as principal concertmaster of Orquestra Sinfonica Portuguesa in Lisbon.

Apart from the work in the Opera House, Xuan was invited as guest concertmaster for many orchestras in Europe: Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra, Porto National Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Tampere Philharmonic. In 2008 he was invited as concertmaster of the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra`s concert tour to the Olympic Music Festival in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.

In 2011 Xuan Du moved to London and has been offered work with many of the major orchestras including the London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, Northern Sinfonia and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra often as guest or co-leader. During 18 years in Europe, Xuan has performed as soloist and chamber musician in many festivals giving recitals in Germany, Denmark, France, Spain, Portugal and UK.

Since 2014, Xuan Du has been working as the concertmaster of orchestra of National Opera house of China. in Beijing.Xuan Du is performing on a Don Nicolaus Amarti violin dated 1725 and an early Satory bow.

Sangidorjiin Sayantsetseg is a Mongolian concert pianist and professor of music. She is the first Mongolian musician to perform as a solo artist at Carnegie Hall. She and her husband organized the biannual Ciudad de Huesca International Piano Competition in Spain, beginning in 1999. She is the president of the competition's jury.

Sayantsetseg was born in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Her family was heavily involved in music and art; she began piano lessons at age five, studying with her father and mother.

After graduating from Music College in Ulaanbaatar, Sayantsetseg continued her piano studies at Tchaikovsky Academic Music College. Later, she began study at Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow, where she studied the tradition of Russian pianism from Tatiana Galitskaya, Nina Emelyanova, and Margarita Fyodorova.

During post-graduate studies at Madrid's Royal Conservatory under Guillermo González, she began studying Spanish music. Sayantsetseg has also been a strong advocate for the work of Mongolian composers, including her father, Choigiviin Sangidorj, and her brother, Sangidorjiin Sansargereltekh.
