About this Event

The Malcolm X Debate program and First Year Initiatives collaborate using topics crafted from the university’s Book-in-Common, Hidden America. The debate revolves around a question that frames the issue, or clash, invoked by some segment of the BinC. Speeches on each side of the issue—pro and con—are presented by two undergraduate students, followed by “rebuttals” from the audience. Starting speeches will be driven by the question, “Does gender determine employment opportunities in the United States?”
