The University of Louisville Department of Theatre Arts’ African American Theatre Program (AATP) proudly presents Clyde's, the acclaimed play by two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage. Directed by Catron Booker, this production takes a bold and imaginative turn with an Afrofuturistic vision, blending contemporary themes with futuristic aesthetics to deliver a uniquely compelling theatrical experience.

Set in a truck-stop sandwich shop, Clyde's follows a group of formerly incarcerated kitchen staff striving for redemption and a second chance at life. Under the sharp and unrelenting eye of their boss, Clyde, the team discovers resilience, camaraderie, and the transformative power of a perfect sandwich. Known for its sharp wit, emotional depth, and biting social commentary, Clyde's offers an exploration of survival, hope, and human connection.

Director Catron Booker reimagines the world of Clyde's through an Afrofuturistic lens, infusing the production with innovative design, evocative visuals, and speculative themes that highlight the characters' quest for a better future. This unique approach emphasizes themes of liberation, self-determination, and the boundless possibilities of imagination
