CIEHS & Pharm Tox Dept EHS Seminar with Special Guest Phoebe Stapleton, Ph.D., A.T.C.

Join the Center for Integrative Environmental Health Sciences and the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology for the monthly Environmental Health Science Series Seminar with special guest speaker Phoebe Stapleton, Ph.D., A.T.C.. Presentation entitled "Exposure to micro- and nanoplastic particles, considerations in a maternal-fetal environment."

Dr. Stapleton is currently a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Pharmacology and Toxicology Department of the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and a resident member of the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute of Rutgers University. She completed both her graduate and postdoctoral training at West Virginia University focusing on microvascular physiology and inhalation toxicology, respectively. Her laboratory focuses on the cardiovascular implications of maternal exposure to nanomaterials during pregnancy, identifying the maternal, fetal, and offspring outcomes associated with these exposures. In 2021 she was awarded an Outstanding New Environmental Scientist grant from NIEHS and the RBHS Chancellor Basic Sciences Researcher Award. Most of her work has focused on inhalation of titanium dioxide nanoparticles, but recently her laboratory has begun to investigate toxicological outcomes associated with micro- and nanoplastic particle exposure.
