One of the most important elements of being successful in graduate school is having a support network. While many students have a wide network of support, there’s no guarantee those in the network understand the challenges of graduate education or are able to communicate in ways and at times amenable to a graduate student’s schedule. However, having a community in graduate school to provide insight, support, encouragement and validation is invaluable.

During the first hour of this conversational session, we’ll discuss what community means in graduate school, strategies for finding communities, and how to foster and maintain those connections.

During the second informal hour, we encourage graduate students to have a snack and some coffee or tea, and just hangout for conversation and community – come and go as you please!
