http://www.louisville.edu/artThe University of Louisville Hite Art Institute presents African Art from the Margaret and Frederick Merida Collection, exhibited in its entirety for the first time since donated in 2012. Avid collectors of art and artifacts from various regions across Africa, Margaret and Frederick Merida donated 40 works to the University of Louisville in honor of distinguished Hite faculty member Dario Covi.
The collection showcases rich examples of cultural objects used for various ritual practice, entertainment and domestic use from Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Congo, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The exhbition runs through Oct. 25.
