Description:
If you buy into the concept of active learning but want to know more about strategies for engaging all students, this is the workshop for you. Learn a variety of practical, easy-to-use active learning exercises that can be used to increase student engagement in courses and modified to fit your content and objectives.
Participants will:
• assess a variety of practical strategies for active learning in the classroom.
• identify strengths and weaknesses of various active learning activities in relation to course format and goals.
• describe how instructors can increase student participation and motivation.
• share their own applied success strategies with colleagues.
Presenter:
Jennifer Anderson, Ph.D., is the Program Director of the Teaching Innovation Learning Lab (TILL) at the Delphi Center for Teaching and Learning. She joined the Delphi Center in May 2017 after working as an assistant professor of political science at Tennessee Tech University (TTU) for six years. Jennifer was the 2016 recipient of TTU’s Outstanding Teaching Award in General Education. In her current role, she fosters UofL classroom teaching innovation through coordinating and delivering professional development programs at the TILL.
