Intellectual Property 101: Basics for Successful Professionals

This presentation will provide a basic overview of the major categories of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets and copyright, including their attributes and how they are established and used in commerce.


Speaker
Daniel Bucca holds a B.S. in chemistry, a Ph.D. in polymer science and a J.D. in law. He worked as a scientist in academia and industry, publishing articles in a variety of journals and obtaining several patents from his research endeavors.
For the past twenty years, Dr. Bucca has practiced intellectual property law including procuring, enforcing and licensing patent rights and strategic, worldwide patent portfolio counseling with particular emphasis on life science, pharmaceutical, chemical, materials and energy technologies. He works for McDermott Will & Emery LLP in Washington D.C
